A NEW online GP service which makes it easier for patients to book or cancel appointments has now been rolled out to more than 90 per cent of practices in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Redmoor Health is managing the roll out of the myGP App across all general practices in the region.
Some 92 per cent of practices in Lancashire and South Cumbria are now offering the myGP app, meaning that 84 per cent of the population has access to online consultations.
A total of 1.3m licenses have been issued enabling patients to access their GP via video.
Once signed up, patients can managed their health related business more easily including booking and cancelling appointments, setting medication reminders and making use of a secure instant messaging service.
Patients can also use the app’s self-care support tools to monitor weight and blood pressure.
The App is also helping to reduce the number of Did Not Attend or missed appointments and free up valuable doctors’ time.
According to the latest figures:
25,000 appointments booked each month via the App
375,000 appointment reminders sent each month
8,500 appointments cancelled after receiving the reminder
9,000 patients diverted to another appropriate service
myGP has been funded by the partnership of health and care organisations across Lancashire and South Cumbria as part of a shared digital health strategy, ‘Our Digital Future’.
Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria is the name for the partnership of NHS, local councils, public sector, voluntary sector and community organisations working together as an Integrated Care System to improve health and care services and help the 1.7 million people in Lancashire and South Cumbria live longer, healthier lives.
The App is available to download for smartphones from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
