Following the successful deployment of video consultation across care homes in North Staffordshire, Redmoor have been tasked with scaling the programme up to incorporate practices and care homes across the whole of Staffordshire.

The programme, which is using Microsoft Teams to connect practices to care homes, comes after a highly successful phase 1 programme involving 20 care homes and 20 practices in North Staffs who between them have been running video consultation for the last 2 years. In addition to this, mental health teams have also been using the video technology to undertake dementia reviews.

The scaling up ensures that practices and care homes in the East and South of the county can benefit from video consultation – something that is proving invaluable during the Covid-19 crisis.

Liam Wright, digital advisor for Redmoor Health said the programme was proving really popular, “Because of the pressures both the practices and care homes are under we have exceeded expectations in terms of demand and are already planning the next wave to bring on board. Sadly, during these hard times video consultation is a vital method for practices to safely engage with care homes. Each home is also provided with monitoring equipment for basis observations and the fact practices can make use of Microsoft Teams makes it run even more smoothly.”
