Redmoor Health is launching a new Practice Life Sciences Partnership Network to help GP practices access funded research opportunities that are practical, relevant to patients and designed to minimise practice workload.
Many practices are interested in supporting innovation and research, but the opportunity has to be clear, manageable and worthwhile. Our aim is to connect practices with selected life sciences partners where the role of the practice is straightforward, the patient benefit is clear, and the opportunity can also create additional income for the practice.
The network will give practices the chance to hear about research opportunities, choose whether they want to take part, and build involvement in future studies without taking on unnecessary administrative burden.
First opportunity: funded mental health research for anxiety and depression
The first opportunity available through the network is a funded research study being delivered in partnership with Lindus Health.
The study is for people experiencing symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. It compares two remote support approaches: a clinically supervised digital therapy platform and standard remote cognitive behavioural therapy, known as CBT. The formal study name is the Nook Trial.
The study is designed to understand whether the digital therapy platform can be as effective as standard remote CBT in supporting people with anxiety and/or depression. Participants are randomly allocated to one of the two study groups, and the study is managed remotely by Lindus Health. The trial documentation describes screening and eligibility checks as being completed remotely by the central research team, with participants randomised to either the digital therapy platform or standard remote CBT.
What does the practice need to do?
The practice role is deliberately light-touch. Participating practices are provided with practice-specific QR code cards by Lindus Health. These cards can be shared with patients who may be suitable during normal practice interactions.
Once a patient scans the QR code, Lindus Health manages the next steps, including screening, eligibility checks, consent, enrolment, randomisation and trial delivery.
Practices are not required to run searches, complete coding, screen patients, consent patients, manage follow-up or carry out trial administration.
This is also a funded opportunity for participating practices, with payment triggered when a patient is successfully randomised into the study.
Why join the network?
The Redmoor Practice Life Sciences Partnership Network is for practices that are open to supporting research and innovation, but need opportunities to be practical and proportionate. By joining the network, practices can:
- access selected funded research opportunities
- support patients to find out about relevant studies
- contribute to healthcare innovation and evidence generation
- create additional practice income
- be considered for future life sciences opportunities
There’s no obligation to take part in every opportunity. Practices can review each project and decide which it is right for them.
Interested in taking part?
Redmoor Health is now recruiting GP practices that would like to support this first mental health research opportunity and join the wider Practice Life Sciences Partnership Network.
