Members of Redmoor Health’s turned on the glamour to show their support for a worthy cause close to their hearts.

Marketing Manager Charlie Brookes was joined by Kaite Dowson, Director of Digital for Doncaster CCG and Doncaster Place, at the fundraising event in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association at Leigh Sports Village Stadium.

The event was the culmination of an epic charity challenge by Martyn Clarke, a Wigan rugby league fan, who was inspired to raise funds in honour of his sporting hero Rob Burrows MBE.

When Martyn decided to complete seven Half Ironman Triathlons in seven days last year – the team at Redmoor Health wanted to do all they could to help. CEO Marc Schmid, his wife and co-owner Alison and their sons are avid rugby fans.

Martyn, a super fit father of three, pledged to raise as much money as he could in honour of the rugby league legend who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in December 2109.

Using their amazing digital expertise, the Redmoor team took over Martyn’s social media and helped promote his challenge nationally. They also posted regularly throughout the seven-day challenge, so all Martyn’s supporters could see how he was doing.

Redmoor Health also used its excellent PR and media contacts to ensure his incredible feat was picked up by the regional, national and sporting press.

We spoke to Martyn about his feeling toward the event and his attempt:

“To conclude the #7for7IM Attempt, to have Rob, Lindsey, his children and so many sporting guests, friends and family was amazing, we are nearly approaching £40k total, quite some way from my original £500 target in August 2021.

From starting training, running with Kevin Sinfield on his extra mile back in November over in Yorkshire on a freezing cold night, meeting Sale Sharks, Leigh Centurions, Marc Schmid at Redmoor Health and the team themselves coordinating superbly the media behind the attempt, being tested by Leeds Beckett University, to then complete a challenge many thought was impossible, seems a little surreal, most importantly is raising the funds to help people in both South Lancashire and in Rob’s own West Yorkshire regions for MND care.

A special thanks to Derek Beaumont who made contact last year, wanted to help, swam and cycled with myself, which lead to meeting the amazing Gill Wood, Director at Leigh Centurions who organised the fundraising event on Saturday 30th April, raising over £12,000 on the night, to Cris Hoskin, Chair of South Lancashire MND branch, who has suffered more than anyone I know with MND, now a very close friend, final thanks to my family, who watched myself train for weeks and months and journey around the UK to publicise the event and the cause for MND.”
